House in Chikata

The house is set amid the rural scenery of the outskirts of Fukuyama city,Hiroshima.
The building was sited at a distance from the road so as not to ruin the spatial spread which the site possessed originaly. The lawn garden inclined around the billding functions as a gradual boundary between the road.
The living room on the second floor is designed open to the rich scenery. On the otherhand, it secure privacy by taking the distance from the road, the level difference, and spandrel wall surrounding the room. A thin lace curtain adjusts the intrusive degree of scenery and light to the room. The composition of concrete roof slab and large opening make the close relation between the outside and the interior. It gives the space abundant extension to the surrounding. The deep eaves interrupting rain and day-light, the sliding door securing ventilation make the interior as comfortable semi-outdoor space like the shade of trees in a breeze.
I intended to control the balance among the function, the environment, and the sense of relief by composing of the building frame, the opening, and the material. And I also aimed at the simple expression which consist of the composition that directly become appearance of construction. All ratios and sizes of each element of the architecture like wall, spandrel wall, opening, eaves, and ceiling height ,were decided owing to this balance.
